Many and One

We are many and we are one.
Moving constantly, but slowly - too slowly to see in a moment or day or even a week.
Come back in six months and we will be so different, remade by the alchemy of slow time, our time.
But we reform in concert, a steady beat pulsating in the push-pull of re-creation.

I am sometimes mistaken as solitary, as body with my strong trunk and stretching limbs.
But I feel my cohort all around, we think as one, sharing what we know, what we have.
We are one interconnected labyrinth of shared experience. I know nothing that we all do not know.
We are many, we are one.

We are living simultaneously in our past and future.
Our roots both archive and lifeline absorbing the embodied wisdom of the soil all around us.
We live in a cycle that transcends day and night, moons and tides.
We live in a cycle of earth, oxygen, sun, and water.
We live as a unified many, a network of one.
